eSAF Alliance

Operational Early Movers for Synthetic Aviation Fuels in Europe

Destination 2026

The EU has launched the

eSAF
Early Movers Coalition.

The announcement of the EU’s eSAF Early Movers Coalition to accelerate the production and uptake of synthetic aviation fuels at policy and funding level, has created a new dynamic in the aviation and energy sector.

It marks a turning point: synthetic aviation fuels are no longer a theoretical option but an emerging industrial reality.

The eSAF Alliance builds directly on this momentum.

We offer an operational, hands-on space for companies and institutions that want to move early, coordinate faster and prepare concrete projects while the regulatory framework takes shape.

Independent. Collaborative. Fully complementary to the EU initiative.
Not affiliated with the European Commission.

If you recognise your organisation in this list, you are part of Europe’s operational early movers.

Accelerating Europe’s eSAF Trajectory

ReFuelEU Aviation sets the direction.
The Early Movers Coalition sets the intention.

But the implementation will happen across airports, airlines, fuel producers, energy partners, and infrastructure operators.

This is where the eSAF Alliance comes in:

  • We support the scale-up of synthetic aviation fuels.

  • We bring together the practical actors who build assets, logistics, PtL plants and procurement structures.

  • We turn policy signals into operational coordination.

Policy creates the mandate.
Early movers create the momentum.
  • A cooperative operational framework
For airports, airlines, eSAF producers, H₂ and renewable energy companies who want to align early.

  • A shared understanding of readiness
ASTM D7566, logistics compatibility, blending concepts, PtL project pipelines, market timelines.

  • Insights into emerging instruments
Double-sided auctions, investment signals, funding logic and supply-chain development across Europe.

  • A space for hands-on collaboration
Where stakeholders coordinate concrete steps instead of waiting for slow implementation waves.

We connect the doers,
not the documents.

What the eSAF Alliance Provides

What the EU Has Started

The eSAF Alliance acts as a curated representation layer that highlights early movers in a field where visibility is often reserved for major airports, airlines and large industrial actors. For many specialised SMEs, this provides a level of presence and legitimacy that would otherwise be out of reach.

By offering a structured, independent overview of the emerging ecosystem, the Alliance positions every actor — regardless of size — within the broader European eSAF landscape. This enables newcomers, innovators and established players alike to be recognised as credible participants in upcoming projects, tenders and cross-sector initiatives.

While the Alliance currently focuses on strategic representation, its design allows for future, demand-driven extensions such as curated matchmaking, thematic working groups or operational coordination formats — activated only when stakeholders explicitly seek deeper cooperation..

Strengthening early movers with the positioning they need to be recognised as credible actors in Europe’s emerging eSAF ecosystem.

The eSAF Alliance positions early movers where they need to be:

visible, credible and recognisable

within a rapidly forming European market.

Participation in the eSAF Alliance

The eSAF Alliance is a neutral, independent platform that gives visibility to the organisations shaping Europe’s emerging synthetic aviation fuel ecosystem. Participation is free, non-binding and focused on representation rather than advocacy or certification.

By placing these actors side-by-side on an independent platform, the eSAF Alliance enables companies of all sizes – including highly specialised SMEs – to be seen in a European context where they would otherwise remain invisible next to major industry players.

Enablers &
Authorities

Actors whose decisions, mandates or infrastructures lay the groundwork for eSAF deployment, such as:
  • Airport operators and airport groups

  • Municipalities, regions and public development agencies

  • Civil aviation and transport authorities

  • Port authorities (where PtL or fuel logistics are involved)

  • Grid operators (TSOs/DSOs) and infrastructure owners

  • Public utilities and municipal energy providers

  • Zoning, permitting and planning bodies relevant to eSAF or PtL sites

Producers &
Solution Providers

Organisations that develop, produce, supply or technically enable eSAF and related infrastructure, for example:
  • eSAF and PtL fuel producers

  • PtL project developers and project SPVs

  • Electrolyser manufacturers (PEM, alkaline, SOEC etc.)

  • CO₂ capture technology providers (point source & DAC)

  • Fischer–Tropsch, methanol-to-jet and synthesis technology providers

  • EPCs and engineering consultancies for PtL and fuel plants

  • Storage tank, pipeline and terminal equipment manufacturers

  • Fuel handling, blending and quality-control solution providers

  • Measurement, control, digitalisation and SCADA system suppliers

  • Safety, monitoring and certification-related technical service providers

Operators &
Energy Users

Organisations whose operations will interact directly with eSAF, airport energy systems or related infrastructure, including:
  • Ground-handling and refuelling service providers

  • Logistics and cargo companies operating at or via airports

  • Fleet operators (airside vehicles, buses, service fleets)

  • Microgrid developers and operators

  • PV and wind park operators linked to PtL or airport supply

  • Owners of on-site or near-site renewable assets

  • Parking and mobility hub operators at or near airports

  • ESCOs and energy service providers with airport or aviation clients

  • Data centres and high-load energy users integrated into local energy systems

This curated representation strengthens credibility, supports early ecosystem formation and creates a natural entry point for collaboration as Europe scales up synthetic aviation fuel production and deployment.

Participation is open to all organisations active in or adjacent to the eSAF ecosystem.
Registration requires only basic company information and determines placement within the relevant category.

To ensure clarity and accessibility for all stakeholders, the Alliance organises actors across operational dimensions – each with clearly defined example roles:
The eSAF Alliance provides visibility, context and early positioning – a shared space for the operational early movers translating Europe’s ambitions into tangible progress.

Join the eSAF Alliance

Europe’s shift toward synthetic aviation fuels has created a unique window for early movers. The eSAF Alliance brings together organisations that want to act now—before rigid structures, fixed markets and long-term contracts fully crystallise.

Joining the eSAF Alliance means entering a collaborative operational environment where airports, airlines, eSAF producers, energy companies, technology providers and system integrators coordinate real steps toward deployment.

We work with the same vocabulary and ambitions reflected in the EU’s eSAF Early Movers agenda, but focus entirely on the practical layer: readiness, interoperability, project development, supply-chain integration and future-proof airport energy systems.

If your organisation aims to be part of Europe’s operational early movers in eSAF, this is the place to start.

Clean Aviation and Clean Airports

The eSAF Alliance

  • operates independently,

  • builds on the momentum of the EU’s Early Movers agenda,

  • supports cooperation among organisations that want to act early,

  • and positions itself as a constructive partner to upcoming European initiatives.

Our purpose is to convene the operational early movers who translate Europe’s ambitions for eSAF into tangible, measurable progress on the ground.

eSAF is a central pillar of aviation decarbonisation, embedded within a broader evolution of airport energy systems that also require H₂ integration, renewable power, BESS, hybrid ground power and multi-energy microgrids.

  • H₂ integration

  • Renewable power

  • BESS and hybrid ground power

  • Multienergy microgrids

  • Terminal and apron electrification

  • SAF logistics and quality control

For this broader architecture, the eSAF Alliance collaborates with:
